HerbYvore Plant Protein Block is a versatile ingredient for a variety of plant-based/vegan recipes. It is made with pea protein, is soy-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, allergen-free and GMO-free.

It looks like tofu, cooks like a non-melting cheese, and provides a binding effect needed in many recipes across cuisines. HerbYvore Plant Protein Block comes in a block of 250g, and each block contains 30g pea protein.

HerbYvore Plant Protein Block is vegan-friendly and is made with pea protein. It is soy-free, cholesterol-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, allergen-free and GMO-free. It is also high in protein, i.e., each block contains:

• 30g protein per 250g
• is high in calcium
• contains dietary fibre

It is a highly versatile ingredient as you can use it to replace dairy or meat in some recipe applications, and also make both sweet and savoury dishes.

We wouldn't recommend eating HerbYvore Plant Protein Block on its own due to the subtle beany taste (due to its high amount of pea protein), but it does not emit much water like tofu and hence takes on marinades well. When combined with the right ingredients or seasonings, the block can be used to cook a variety of scrumptious plant-based dishes.

HerbYvore Plant Protein Block cooks more like a non-melting cheese, so while we wouldn't recommend melting it or grating it, you can still use it as vegan 'ricotta' cheese, or blend it into a delicious creamy pasta sauce.

Ingredients: Water, Yellow Pea Concentrate, Sunflower Oil, Vinegar, Calcium Sulphate, Transglutaminase.

Please note that despite the relatively long shelf life of this product, no preservatives have been used. The low water content compared to tofu, plus the use of sunflower oil and vinegar helped to enhance shelf life naturally.

Based on the nutritional panel, HerbYvore Plant Protein Block contains 11.8g protein per 100g, which is 29.5g per 250g – therefore each block contains 30g of plant protein from peas!

Yes, HerbYvore Plant Protein has achieved halal certification.

The Plant Protein Block has a shelf-life of 9 months from date of manufacture. Always keep chilled at 0-4ºC, after opening store air-tight, and use within a week.

HerbYvore Plant Protein Block can be used in the following recipe applications:

• For selected dairy replacement, i.e., works as a vegan feta and ricotta (with the right seasoning); it also works as a substitute for butter in a 2-to-1 ratio. E.g., replacing 200g butter in a recipe with 100g plant protein block and 100g neutral tasting oil (this substitution can work in a dense baked recipes like cookies or brownies).
• As a thickening and binding agent while giving texture. You can add the Plant Protein Block to replace use of a dairy cream for thickening in recipes like parfaits or cream soups/sauces.
• For meat replacement. When crumbled to resemble minced meat and marinated with aromatics, the Plant Protein Block does not require draining of water like tofu and adequate time for seasoning allows the block to absorb flavours to reduce the beanie tastes that is associated with the high pea protein content.

Compared to tofu, HerbYvore Plant Protein Block:

• Contains about 3x protein of tofu.
• Does not contain soy, instead, protein is from pulses like peas (NB: pulses are the edible seeds of the legume plant. Example of pulses include lentils, peas and chickpeas).
• Leaks less water and is firmer in texture than tofu, takes on marinade better, but note: not as neutral tasting as tofu, so best to work with strong flavours and spices, chocolate, etc.
