
These plant-based tacos are not only delicious, but are also extremely nutritious. In this recipe, we used HerbYvore Plant Protein Block to replace the meat in the tacos. For toppings, just prep some freshly chopped tomatoes, a scoop of guacamole and some freshly grated cheese (can omit this or use vegan cheeses if you prefer a vegan version). Our recipe works with both soft and hard tacos. Gather your people and follow the directions below to indulge in some protein goodness together!
INGREDIENTS
- 10 taco shells or soft tacos
- 1 pack of 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗬𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗲™️ 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸
- 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 large yellow onion chopped
- 1 red bell pepper chopped
- 1 yellow bell pepper chopped
- Few leaves of roughly chopped lettuce
- 1 tomato
- 4 pods garlic crushed
- 1 tsp cajun spice blend
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 2 tbsp sundried tomato paste
- 1 tbsp mixed herbs
- Salt to taste
- Olive oil
METHOD
- Crumble the Herbyvore Plant Protein Block.
- In a bowl mix the nutritional yeast, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, garlic powder and chilli powder.
- Add in the crumbled plant protein, mix well and leave it to marinate for 30 minutes.
- Heat a pan. Once hot, coat it with olive oil. Spread the seasoned plant protein and fry till the sides crisp up. Remove from pan.
- In the same pan, add another tbsp of oil and sauté the onion until it turns translucent. Add in the crushed garlic and the bell pepper, sauté till its half cooked.
- Add the cajun spice, paprika powder, tomato paste, salt and the mixed herb to the pan. Give it a good stir.
- Add in the fried plant protein mix and stir well, ensuring the flavors permeate the mixture.
- Allow it to cook for another 5 minutes and our taco filling is ready!
- In the meantime, prep some freshly chopped lettuce and diced tomatoes.
- To assemble the taco, follow packet directions to heat up pre-packaged taco shells. Once done, scoop the taco filling and carefully fill each shell.
- Top each taco with the chopped lettuce and tomatoes, and you're ready to feast!
